Mission Statement

The Danvers Rail Trail Advisory Committee is a Town Manager appointed committee of nine volunteers with broad representation from the community. Created in July 2009, the Committee purpose is to advance the utilization of the abandoned railroad corridor in Danvers to which the Town has been granted a 99 year lease by the MBTA.

This 4.3 mile way offers the potential for a diverse range of recreational trail uses and it is the mission of the Committee to explore how to best make this resource available to Town residents.

The Committee's role may include efforts to obtain grants and other funds in support of the trail's devlopment with the goal of minimizing any expense to the Town, community and abutter outreach, working with the MBTA and acting as a liaison with other communities and the eventual design, building and maintenance of a recreational trail.
